Description:
The Christian Formation Commission for the School and Preschool (“CFC”) is a group of parents whose children attend IHM School & Preschool who, along with the clergy, administration, and Parish Council are dedicated to the promotion and welfare of Catholic education. This commission of IHM stakeholders is responsible for recognizing and effectively communicating relevant ideas and strategies to further achieve the educational goals & mission of the school and parish.
Responsibilities of the Commission include:
1. Assist in development of long range (“7 year”) school and pre-school plans. Evaluate progress towards achieving these plans by reviewing the yearly surveys and results of the accreditation process.
2. Make recommendations regarding policies that pertain to the catholic school education in the parish. These recommended policies should be in accord with the general policies of the Diocesan Board of Education and the Diocesan regulation for schools as they apply to the parish program.
3. Promote, monitor and review the effectiveness of new and existing policies. This committee is responsible for aiding the Administration (Principal and/or School Board), whenever possible, in the successful development and implementation of rules and regulations in accord with approved policy(s).
4. Foster continued growth and development of excellence in education.
Communicate with the CFC-Finance Council (“CFCFC”) to stay abreast of the school’s operating budget and participate in any specific tasks or committees as invited by the Parish Council and/or CFCFC.
5. Actively participate in Home and School Association (“HSA”) Financial matters, including oversight of HSA budget goals and allocation of funds. Explore and direct fundraising and other sources of revenue for the operation of the school.
6. Actively participate in the communication and marketing of the school and its programs to the parish and surrounding community.
Membership & Representation
* Membership of the school and preschool commission shall be approximately 11 members.
* Whenever possible, each grade 4K thru 8 and the preschool should have a representative on the CFC.
* The Sports Committee, Fish Fry Committee, Home & School and Marketing Committee will have liaison members on the CFC (or vice-versa).
* The membership shall serve a maximum of a three-year term with no more than one third of the membership turn over each year.
* The Past President shall be invited to participate in the CFC meetings for an additional year following the fulfillment of their term.
* The Parish Council liaison will be a voting member of this commission.
* The pastor, principal and preschool director shall serve as ex-officio members of the CFC.
